Google: EU Commissioners Don’t Comprehend Antitrust Law

In an initiative to soften the European Commission’s questions into business practices, Google has declared that those bringing charges versus it do not fully comprehend antitrust law.

Kent Walker, senior VP, and basic counsel, required to the business’s corporate blog site to react to the commission’s concerns over how it has avoided competing sites and services from contending in the locations of online advertising and sales. In his blog site post, Walker fasted to explain that the Commission had cannot acknowledge the role that Amazon plays in how consumers go shopping online.

Google’s window shopping engine, “Shopping” is currently under investigation in the EU for the way in which it makes it more difficult for competing sites to bring in users due to the large user base that the search engine currently has. Though the company sees Amazon as a competitor, the Commission does not believe that it can even be considered one as it has paid other shopping contrast websites for referrals in the past.

Walker went on to declare that the factor online shopping has progressed into what it is today is as a direct result of competition, saying: “These services– search engines, price comparison sites, merchant platforms, and merchants– contend with each other in online shopping. That’s the reason why online shopping is so dynamic and has grown a lot over the last few years”.

FairSearch, which represents the search business that declares to have been impacted by Google’s efforts in the area, has launched a declaration in which its counsel Thomas Vinje argues that the company used its market power unjustly and for its own gain, stating:

” We think it is the European Commission that has the interests of customers in mind, not a private company that makes money by using its market power to charge high costs to marketers. Find more about elite law firms. When consumers look at Google ads they do not get the finest, most pertinent results. Rather, they get the arise from advertisers going to pay Google the most loan”.

While Google may have been aiming to defend itself by releasing its declaration, it seems that the company has only provided its accusers more reasons to criticize its business practices.
